[ He glances at her as they walk and gives her a small smile. ]

Making you happy is the reward for me. Food is a bonus.

[ she gives him a little squeeze. Though she doesn't really know where they're going so she straightens up after that. And starts asking about every food place they pass. ]

Ah, I think so.

[ He checks his device for the name of the restaurant. "Blue Pastures". It seems that everything is blue, too. ]

It looks quaint.

[ It's cute!! A server opens the door for them and Akashi gestures for Emerald to go in first. ]

[ Aliens and their blue pastures instead of green. Psh.

Though she guesses they're the aliens here... ]

Do you think our food is going to be blue?

[ She jokes as she heads in, following the host to a table after holding up two fingers to indicate how many. ]

I hope not, that would be weird.

[ He doesn't want to eat blue food...

They're ushered to a table for two by the window. It's a nice view! And they'll even be able to see the ferris wheel and the roller coaster from a distance. ]

I think we're settled with what we want to order. Would you like anything else?

[ He's fine with just salad and steak and potatoes, all of which happen to be on the menu. ]

You're the master of weird, though.

[ This is really nice, honestly. She didn't expect a place this nice. Emerald swings her feet under her chair as she looks at the rides in the distance, then back at Akashi when he asks his question. ]

No, just water.

[glorifies]

[ Akashi orders their food and asks for two glasses of water. Not much else to do now but wait. The salad should get to them quicker than the steak. ]

What will you have for dessert?

[unhappy]

Hm... I want funnel cake back at the park later.

[ but it'll be better if they wait until later since after steak and potatoes and caprese she's sure she'll be full. ]

[ He's sure there are other sweets being sold at the park, too. For now, he confirms their orders and waits! ]

I've never tried that before, either.

[ With the order in, their water is brought over in only a few seconds, and emerald looks excited. ]

Me neither, but it's supposed to be a theme park staple. We can try it together.

In Japanese festivals, we have more traditional food sold. More savoury than sweet - like grilled squid, okonomiyaki, and takoyaki.

[ Of course, there are sweets too! Akashi hardly ever checks them out, though. ]

What does "yaki" mean? It's in a ton of Japanese food. Okonomiyaki, takoyaki, yakitori, sukiyaki...

[ She's noticing patterns!! ]

Ah, it just means "cooked over heat".

Tako, for example, is what we call "octopus" in Japanese. Takoyaki is cooked octopus.

Oh. That makes sense. What's your favorite yaki?

[ She's gonna reach under the table to try to hold his hand. ]

Dorayaki is good. I'll look for a shop that sells them here.

[ They can eat it together!!

He has one hand on his lap and another on the table, holding his glass of water. '-' He's not really sure what she's aiming for here though. ]

[ What's that!! She doesn't know what it is.

God, she has to lean down to reach for his damn hand because she can't find it. She gives him a little pinch on the knee to try to get him to smack her hand away so she can grab it. ]

Pancakes.

[ With red beans, but he leaves that part out.

And okay, that's concerning?? DON'T PINCH YOUR WUSS BOYFRIEND, EMERALD??? He actually does what she wants him to do which is try to swat her hand away. ]

What did I do?

[ She only ever hurts him if he does something embarrassing :((((( ]

Oh. I like pancakes.

[ Until she finds out there are red beans in them. Ren already got her to try those in a green tea donut filled with red beans. People need to stop ambushing her with this weird mush!!!

She blinks at the question, not even getting why he's upset. Also it was a super light pinch, it shouldn't have hurt him much!! Just got his attention!! like grandmas pinching cheeks!!!! Either way, she's grabbed his hand by now to hold it so she sits up but doesn't let go. ]

I wanted your hand and you were ignoring me.

You could have just said so.

[ Em??? What are you doing. ]

I thought I did something wrong.

It'd be obvious on my face if you did something wrong.

[ She's very expressive! ]

[ And he hopes he doesn't do anything wrong today... He likes being able to spend time with her like this!

His thumb moves from side to side slowly, rubbing the side of her hand in gentle comfort. ]

We should have gotten a booth instead. I'd like to sit next to you.

[ So just. Emerald looks, left, then right, then lets go of his hand so she can pick up both of their waters.

Like who is going to stop them

She moves their stuff over to the nearest booth, then comes back for his hand to drag him over. ]

Come on. It's our first date, we get whatever we want.

[ He looks around, and some of the waiters seem a little confused at what's happening, but they seem to accommodate what's happening, anyway.

It's good though, because he can sit next to her and they can hold hands without having to stretch their arms so much! He takes her hand now that they're seated again. He doesn't say anything either, and instead focuses on the warmth and presence next to him.

The salad gets served a short while after they get comfortable. The tomatoes are blue!! ]

They really didn't lie about their name.

[ Yeah Emerald is 100% making herself comfortable now. Sanguis definitely makes her a lot more forward than normal, and that means if Akashi wants a booth, Emerald wants to tuck herself underneath his arm so she's up against his side in a full cuddle. ]

I'll taste test to make sure it isn't poisoned. [ She opens her mouth and holds it open. Put it in!! ]

I should be protecting you, too. I'll taste test.

[ He'll be serving himself first. At least it's just a salad!! Getting food with one hand isn't all that difficult.

He seems pensive as he chews, then stabs a tomato, cheese, and basil on his fork to offer to her. ]

I don't think the colour changes the taste. It tastes the same way a red tomato would.
