[ The water looks magical, so of course, he wants to know what it's all about. It's definitely not an ordinary spring. It shows when he places a hand in the water. It's as if he can hear things that weren't there— that aren't supposed to be there. ]
I hear something.
[ Little does he know that something's coming for him, too. A hand slowly tugs him into the water, and he looks at Emerald a little confused before he pulls her with him lajflaf ]
[ Nope, he's not waiting. Great, underwater. Emerald hurries up with him, wrapping both arms around his to make sure she doesn't lose him in the water. ]
[ It's bright underwater, and Akashi's somehow able to keep his eyes open. There's not much to see beyond actual colour, and when Akashi looks at Emerald, he smiles at her to let her know that he's okay. It doesn't seem like there's anything wrong going on...
Until they realise later on that their Chroma's slowly being drained, anyway.
It's difficult to see just how deep the spring is, but Akashi can't see the ground from where they are. In fact, when he looks down, what he sees instead is a whirlpool of sorts moving towards them, closer and closer, 'til the water takes the shape of a human— one that Emerald has definitely seen in Akashi's memories, before. ]
[ Emerald can't say she likes feeling like she's been blinded by luminescent emerald colors, but she can still see Akashi, so at least there's that. She can still feel him, and she's not letting go. She makes a point not to turn at all so they don't get lost from where they came from. Her back is where the exit is.
She does look very, very surprised when she actually sees the person they were looking for, slipping one hand off of Akashi's arm to give a brief wave. She can't really say anything since they're underwater, and she suspects that the whole being dead thing is why she can't find a mind to connect to to use her illusions except for Akashi's. She looks to him and moves her hand back to his arm, intent on not letting him go even if his mom is there. You shouldn't touch ghosts, okay?? ]
[ It gives Akashi the chills now, to be able to see his mother this way, and he knows it's not an illusion Emerald is making. He even looks at her to see if she's doing anything, then looks back at the image of his mother.
Can he even speak underwater? They can breathe just fine for some reason, so maybe— ah, no. A sound comes out but then he ends up letting water in and now he's swallowed some. They're still underwater and the feeling of drowning is there because it doesn't seem like he can breathe anymore just because he tried to speak. His mother tries to approach him, and while he tries to reach out to her with his free hand, he's still very much struggling for air. ]
[ Emerald is getting chills too, but for different reasons. Illusions are one thing. She can dismiss those. Unless the water they just climbed into was hallucinogenic, they were both seeing the same thing. Which meant people were around who were dead, and they could some how make it to another planet.
She almost doesn't notice Akashi swallowing the water, her eyes on the ghostly figure in front of them. It's when she sees him reaching out for her that he moves forward into her line of vision again and she realizes that he's looking pale, she thinks. She's not as entranced- his mother is only important to Emerald because she's important to Akashi- and so she moves her arm around his waist and starts trying to pull him back. It's almost immediately apparent to her that she's lacking a lot of energy-- she doesn't have her normal strength as she starts pulling. They needed to get out of here. ]
[ It hasn't even been that long that they've been underwater, but the stress he feels in his body plus the fact that he feels like he's going to die very soon is making it seem like it's been hours since they've dipped into the water.
Akashi can't think straight; he wants to stay with his mother, but he also can't breathe. Emerald is trying to take him to safety, so he follows, using what fight's left in him to kick his way up and out of the water.
He's gasping for air as soon as his head pops out though, while tears are in his eyes from being about to suffocate. He's going to need to lay down very soon, but at least his body is still cooperating with both of them. ]
[ Emerald's in a similar state, coughing and inhaling sharply to try to catch her breath once they're out. Fighter or player, they're both athletic but they'd both also been down there having their chroma drained and their oxygen depleted for too long.
It's a few moments before she says anything, resting her hands on her knees before standing up straight and reaching out to him. ]
[ While Emerald's already ready with her comments, Akashi doesn't say anything just yet. He takes her hand to get back to shore, but he needs a moment to stay on the ground and cough out the water he drank by accident, water that also happened to go down the wrong pipe.
He squeezes her hand tightly, obviously struggling to breathe, but he lets go of of her a minute later. ]
Sit next to me.
[ He's dripping wet. They need to get home and get dressed... but he assumes both of them don't have the energy to go anywhere else right now.
[ She nods and lets herself nearly fall down next to him once they're at normal ground. They're so soaked, she's not worried about getting dirty on the ground. She sighs. ]
[ Once his breathing's gotten normal, he removes his coat to squeeze out the water. There's no one else around... he's going to need to take his shirt off later, too. ]
She's just resting on the ground, not bothering to really try to dry off. She can't take off her shirt, okay? She'll just wait for him then insist they go get dry. ]
[ That's why... If he wasn't curious about the water, then it could've been avoided. He reaches for her hand, at least. The Chroma that handholding brings isn't much, but it helps them both. Then he places his lips on the back of her hand to kiss it. ]
[ It's said with a hint of sadness, because he really does... want to do that. He wants to be able to feel that — being proud and excited because you love someone and she's about to meet your family.
He does want to squeeze out the water from his shirt too, but people are starting to come to this part of the grounds that he doesn't want to anymore... ]
We'll both get sick. Mayuzumi-san will take care of us if we do.
[ But he doesn't want to get sick in the first place... He looks at her before giving her a small smile before he pushes himself up, then he tugs her upwards to get up, too. ]
Yeah. Maybe we can hold a seance sometime instead. I don't think you have to nearly drown for those.
[ She's not joking about that. She doesn't know how to do it and she's definitely scared of ghosts, but Akashi's mom seems super nice and she would do anything to make Akashi happy. ]

[ She gets up with him, then locks her arm with his so they can walk against each other sides. ] I'll keep you warm, so let's go.
[ Akashi stays quiet as they walk, and he pulls Emerald closer once they're out in the grassy area by the entrance. It's colder now, so they'll have to hurry home soon and shower and get dressed if they want to avoid getting sick. He'll have Emerald get a shower first. He'll prepare coffee while waiting.
They agreed to both go back, so he doesn't make any detours to go elsewhere. The trip to the Solemn Grounds isn't that long, what with the teleporters between one area to another easily accessible. For two people trying to get dry, though, it's still a pretty long walk.
He'll take Emerald back to Mayuzumi's if she wants, but if she doesn't say anything, he'll lead the way to his apartment instead. ]
[ Emerald, on the other hand, has gotten it into her head that Japanese people will die if they get wet and don't dry off for too long. Having survived storms without a roof over her head and not getting sick because of it, she's pretty sure that Akashi needs to shower and dry off first.

[ He closes the door and immediately turns the heater in his apartment on. They're about half-dry now what with all the running, so when they step on his floor, it isn't wet. Akashi doesn't have to clean the floor right away after this.
He really doesn't want Emerald to get sick, though, but she seems adamant about him going first. Well.. it's not like they've never seen each other naked before, so he'll grab her hand and take her to the bathroom so they can shower together. ]

He opens the glass door and steps in. There's a bathtub on the side, but he's not interested in taking a bath right now. Once there's hot water already, he pokes his head out to ask Emerald to come in already. ]
